Description

There is a common misunderstanding that Pitru Dosh is a curse from one's ancestors. In reality, Pitru Dosh arises from the unresolved karmic debts of our forefathers, which must be addressed by the affected individual. Those with this dosh endure the consequences of their ancestors' actions, experiencing either suffering or benefits, depending on the nature of the karmas, until the debts are fully resolved. To mitigate the effects of this dosh, individuals are advised to engage in virtuous and positive deeds (Sattvic Karmas).

Pitru Dosh can also form when the Sun in a horoscope is afflicted by a malefic planet. The type and intensity of the dosh vary depending on the planet causing the affliction and other influencing factors. The most severe form occurs when Rahu or Ketu afflicts the Sun, either through their placement or aspect. If the Sun and Rahu occupy the same house, it creates a particularly inauspicious combination, which can be highly harmful to the individual, especially if the affliction is strong. Similarly, an affliction by Saturn to the Sun can result in a serious dosh. The extent of trouble caused by this dosh depends on the strength and placement of the Sun and the malefic planet involved.

Additionally, Pitru Dosh may occur if the ninth house of the horoscope, which represents ancestors, is afflicted by a malefic planet. The outcomes of such an affliction are assessed similarly to those caused by the Sun’s afflictions. A dosh can also form when the lord of the ninth house is afflicted. In a similar manner, if the Moon is afflicted by malefic planets, it results in Matru Dosh. The most severe type of Matru Dosh arises when Ketu is positioned alongside the Moon in the horoscope.
